Opened in 1993, The Finnish National Opera in its current incarnation is considered to be Finland's premier opera company. The Finnish National Opera resides in Helsinki's neighborhood district of Töölö, in a building that is renowned throughout Finland and the world for its state-of-the-art technology and auditoriums. The company, in addition to opera, also acts as Finland's leading ballet company, with over 100 ballet performances put on annually. The opera company puts on performances throughout the year, with several premiers by contemporary composers, of which at least one is Finnish.
