Barcelona native Xavier Coll is considered one of the city's most talented traditional guitarists. With a knowledge that spans centuries of guitar work, Coll's performances consist of solo pieces with a variety of stringed instruments, including the Vihuela and Tiorba, that showcase the musician's dexterity and adherence to the classical style of each instrument. While Coll might be best known outside of his native country as one half of the Spanish classical duo, the Montserrat Gascón and Xavier Coll Duo, which combined traditional flute with guitar and toured around the world throughout the 90s, within Barcelona, the guitarist is most noted for his intimate solo performances at historic venues.
