Catalonia singer-songwriter Toni Subirana first broke out after putting the poems of Pablo Neruda, Antonio Machado and Joan Maragall to his own original instrumental compositions. Subirana now writes his own poetry, turning it into the Spanish pop and folk that has made him known throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Other musical styles can be heard in Subirana's music including rag-time jazz, French pop and blues. Subirana's poetry and solo guitar work are the central facets of his music and his tunes have gone on to receive acclaim ever since he released his first album in 1987.
