About

Philippe Entremont is a French pianist and conductor who, as a teenager, was able to build a reputation for himself as one of Europe's most respectable concert pianists. Following his European success, Entremont continued garnering praise for his unique pianism worldwide by touring the Americas in the 1950s. Entremont's success as a touring pianist prompted the esteemed American conductor Eugene Ormandy to begin performing and recording with the young pianist to much success and critical acclaim. Later, Leonard Bernstein of the New York Philharmonic became a major supporter of the pianist, with his 1961 recording of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor with Entremont being considered by many to be one of the most notable performances of the work set to record.
