Telekinesis is the musical vehicle for drummer/songwriter Michael Benjamin Lerner, a Seattle-based artist whose debut album Telekinesis! came out in 2009 and was produced by Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie. For Telekinesis! Lerner pairs his crooning pop vocals with up-tempo rock and piano arrangements for a particularly precious sound that isn't afraid to wear its heart on its sleeve in front of high-energy percussion. On Lerner's song "Dirty Thing" a distraught guitar line destabilizes an otherwise commonplace shuffle of percussion and laments of a nonreciprocal love interest.
