Fol Chen formed in the city of Los Angeles in 2009 by front man Samuel Bing. The group released its debut CD Part I: John Shade, You Fortune's Made on Asthmatic Kitty Records in 2009, which featured its comical single "Cable TV" and garnered the six-piece positive press. With its clean, acoustic electropop, mixed with moments of freak-folk, Fol Chen built a following that has continued to grow.
