Balkar Singh Sidhu is an Indian politician and Punjabi singer. Born on 10 October 1971 in Poohla village, Bathinda, Punjab, he learned music from his uncle, renowned Dhadi singer Gurbakhsh Singh Albela. A three-time university gold medalist in singing, Sidhu gained recognition through his first Punjabi album Karna Chhad De Pyar. He later released numerous albums and ventured into Punjabi cinema with the film Desi Munde. Sidhu transitioned into politics, joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2014. After briefly running as an independent candidate, he rejoined AAP and won the Rampura Phul constituency in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. He currently serves as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, contributing to various committees, including the Committee on Estimates. Sidhu continues to be active in both politics and music, balancing his dual careers.
