Mirko Manuele Martorana, known professionally as Rkomi, was born on April 19, 1994, in Milan, Italy. He grew up in the Calvairate district and worked various jobs before pursuing a music career. Rkomi’s early projects include mixtapes and EPs with collaborators such as Tedua. His breakthrough came with the 2016 EP Dasein Sollen, which led to a successful debut studio album, Io in terra (2017). The album topped the charts and was certified gold. Rkomi’s subsequent work, including Dove gli occhi non arrivano (2019) and Taxi Driver (2021), showcased his evolution from indie rap to a blend of pop and funk influences. His collaborations with artists like Elodie and Irama, and his participation in the Sanremo Music Festival 2022, highlight his growing prominence. Rkomi’s innovative style and genre-blending approach have established him as a notable figure in contemporary Italian music.
