Formed in 2002 in Baltimore, Maryland, Arbouretum is essentially the project of Dave Heumann, accompanied by an ever-changing backing band and list of collaborators. Despite the instability of its musicians, Arbouretum has steadily produced intelligent neo-psychedelia with sprawling instrumentals and grunge-meets-folk vocals always crooning a philosophical topic--the 2010 album, The Gathering, revolves around Carl Jung's The Red Book. With a devoted following and generally positive critical acclaim that comes with each new release, Arbouretum continues to find success touring across the country.
