About
Fadel Abdul Rahman Shamander Chaker, known as Fadl Shaker, is a Lebanese-Palestinian singer who rose to fame in the late 1990s with his debut album Wallah Zaman (1998). He became widely popular across the Arab world for his romantic ballads, such as "Ya Ghayeb" (2003), and released numerous albums through labels like Al Khouyoul Records and Rotana. His music career spanned over a decade, with successful albums like Sidi Rouhi (2003) and Allah Aalam (2006). However, in 2013, Chaker's life took a drastic turn when he became involved with radical cleric Ahmed al-Assir and participated in violent clashes against the Lebanese Army, leading to his status as a wanted fugitive. Despite attempts to return to music in 2018, he was sentenced in absentia to 22 years in prison for his involvement in terrorism. His discography remains influential, though overshadowed by his controversial later years.
