Singer/songwriter James Jackson Toth, who performs under the pseudonym Wooden Wand, is evidently from the South - Kentucky to be specific - as portrayed by his warm Southern crooning and outlaw country acoustic guitar. He also maintains ties with the indie freak folk scene, marked by the occasional bizarrely obsessive lyric and ghostly reverb effect. The mastery of Toth’s musicianship, however, is demonstrated by his ability to combine these two ties in Wooden Wand, a project that is incredibly intimate and heartfelt, but not above self-parody.
