Autre Ne Veut, which loosely translates to “others want” in French, is the pseudonym of a New York-based DJ and producer. While he prefers to keep his identity separate from his DJ persona, refusing to grant interviews and never revealing his real name, he does perform fairly regularly in his home city, much to the delight of fans. By rooting his electro-pop in smooth 70s R&B, the producer manages to create a highly addictive form of nu-disco layered with snippets and distortions of his own falsetto vocals. After signing to New York label Olde English Spelling Bee, Autre Ne Veut released its debut album in 2010 and managed to land on many critics year end “Best of” lists.
