Equal parts folk rock and indie jangle pop, the New York quartet, that goes by The Dirty Birds, sounds like country musicians trapped in a big city. It was only fitting that it recorded its debut album in Ann Arbor, Michigan, getting away from the influence of NYC and injecting a little Midwest twang into its sound. All of the members are trained jazz musicians, so occasionally they will infuse their songs with unique elements and impressive musical arrangements, unusual to most indie pop bands.
