Mazlum Çimen is a renowned Turkish musician, composer, ballet dancer, actor, and folk singer, celebrated for his contributions to film scores and Turkish folk music. He hails from a family deeply rooted in musical tradition, with his father, Nesimi Çimen, being a prominent Ashik and cura virtuoso. After studying at the Istanbul State Conservatory, Mazlum transitioned from violin to ballet, eventually joining the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. Alongside his ballet career, he began composing in the early 1980s, influenced by his father and teachers. His work in film music gained acclaim with scores for productions such as Mem û Zin (1991), earning him multiple prestigious awards, including the Golden Orange and Golden Boll. Mazlum Çimen's discography includes albums like Çimen Türküleri (1995) and Buluşmalar (2006), reflecting his deep connection to Turkish folk music.
