Ciwan Haco is a celebrated Kurdish singer known for blending Kurdish folk music with Western genres like pop, rock, blues, and jazz. His musical journey began early, with his first album released at 14 and his first public performance at 17. Despite initial resistance from his family, Haco became a pioneer in Kurdish music, using simple, love-themed lyrics. He has incorporated poems by Kurdish poets like Cegerxwîn in his songs. Over his long career, he has released 17 albums and written music for films, including Dol and Chaplin of the Mountains. Haco's concerts, such as the historic 2003 performance in Batman, Turkey, attracted massive crowds. Now residing in Sweden, he remains popular among the Kurdish diaspora and Middle Eastern Kurds, contributing significantly to Kurdish culture with his music and artistic collaborations.
