Originally attaining success in the late 1970s and 1980s with the rock band Dire Straits, the talented guitar player split from the group and went on to start a solo career. Throughout his storied life, Knopfler has collaborated with several prominent musicians including Bob Dylan, Bryan Ferry and Eric Clapton.
