Soca, a Caribbean music and dance based upon East Indian rhythms and persistent, often electronic percussion, is at the root of Alison Hinds brand of contemporary R&B. Raised on the beautiful island of Barbados, the carefree spirit and vibe of the island comes through in Hinds' music as she blends popular genres like reggaeton, techno and dancehall into one big party package made to be blasted in a sweaty dance club. Due to her work in exposing Soca to a worldwide audience, Hinds is known around the Caribbean as "The Queen of Soca."
