Arrested Youth

While growing up in Louisville, KY, Ian Johnson wanted a creative outlet which simultaneously allowed him to vent out his frustrations and provide his perspective about the issues faced by everyone in their lives. This inspired him to take up singing and songwriting under the name "Arrested Youth." He rose to popularity in 2017 for his song “My Friends Are Robots.” It featured intriguing lyrics that described the grasp of technology on everyone's lives which were laid out in chill hip-hop beats. This became somewhat of a signature style of Arrested Youth- creating alternative hip-hop earthworms which nudged the listener to introspect. Arrested Youth has created many popular tracks since then, including "The kid I used to know" and "Anxiety."
