Banking on an air of mystery, Birdpen is a trio from the UK--though the band members refuse to admit where in the UK they're from, simply calling their home "The Village." The trio is made up of the always black-clad Mike Bird, Dave Pen and James Livingston Seagull--though it's unlikely that these are their real names. Despite this mystique, or perhaps because of it, the band has been fairly well received throughout the UK with its "doom groove," a combination of dark lyrics and melodic indie rock.
