Originally written by Jez Butterworth, The Ferryman follows the life of a former IRA activist living in Northern Ireland. It premiered at the Royal Court Theatre, London in 2017 to unanimous critical acclaim and became the fastest-selling play in the history of the theater. In 2018, it made its Broadway debut at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York City. Described as 'the most critically acclaimed play of the season' by Rolling Stone, The Ferryman has won multiple prestigious awards such as the Tony Awards, the Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards among others.
