Formed in 2009 after a chance meeting in Nashville The Civil Wars create haunting singer-songwriter folk duets. The group received attention after its emotive single "Poison & Wine" was played on Grey's Anatomy, spawning press from major publications and an offer from Nashville big-wig Charlie Peacock to produce the duo's debut album. The Santa Cruz and Alabama based musicians relocated to Nashville during the production of this highly anticipated album and have continued to receive positive reviews since its release. The duo split in 2014.
