Immediately after releasing his first album at the tender age 22, when he was an intern at the venerable drum and bass imprint Hospital Records, High Contrast (aka Lincoln Barrett) became one of the fastest rising stars in the history of the UK drum and bass scene. While a lot of music in that particular genre maintains a dark, sinister vibe, High Contrast tempers drum and bass' trademark breakneck-paced, chopped up drum breaks with grandiose disco and soul samples to create a bright and joyous sound now known as "Liquid." In addition to releasing a critically lauded slew of albums, Barrett has produced a series of very well received, high-profile remixes, making him one of the world's most sought after DJs.
