The Famed child prodigy from Germany, Max Karl August Bruch has made a notable contribution as a conductor and composer of the late romantic era. He wrote over 200 works, including three monumental violin concertos, the first of which, in G Minor is regarded as a staple of the violin repertoire. On demonstrating excellent musical capabilities and precocious talent for composition he was guided and trained by piano virtuosos like Ferdinand Hiller and Ignaz Moscheles. He then spent his later years conducting and teaching. At the prestigious Liverpool Philharmonic Society, he embraced his three successful seasons as a conductor and taught composition at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik until his retirement. Bruch died at the age of 82 on 2 October 1920.
