An offshoot of Bon Iver, the popular indie-folk project of Justin Vernon, Volcano Choir is an entirely different animal. Trading the chilly, haunting, guitar-based tunes of Bon Iver for tape loops, ambient noise and looser song structures, Volcano Choir's debut album, Unmap, is a solid slice of experimental indie-rock for adventurous listeners who crave some more of Vernon's unique vocals.
