Swedish melodic death metal band Sonic Syndicate initially began in 2002 as a power metal band called Tunes of Silence. However, by 2005, the two front man, the Sjunnesson brothers, decided to take the band in a different direction and the remainder of the band dissipated. After recruiting other members, the new six-piece renamed itself Sonic Syndicate and submitted a demo to a Nuclear Blast Records competition. The group was selected as one of the three winners of the contest, chosen amongst 1500 bands, and has been touring extensively and releasing well-received albums ever since.
