Perhaps the most influential musician ever to herald from South Korea, Seo Taiji's career in the music industry would go on to completely shift and revitalize the country's popular culture for a brand new generation. After dropping out of high school, Seo formed the group Seo Taiji & Boys in the early '90s, becoming almost an overnight success. Though primarily a dance group heavily influenced by contemporary dance music and rap lyrics, Seo Taiji & Boys completely revolutionized the South Korean pop music landscape, and would go on to propel K-Pop onto the international stage. Towards the end of the '90s, Seo Taiji retired from the group and began a solo career in music, drawing influence from heavy metal and alternative rock. Despite taking a small reprieve from performing during the '00s, Seo Taiji has returned to the stage, still going strong.
