Known simply as Rhapsody until a trademark dispute necessitated a name change, the Italian progressive metal band Rhapsody of Fire is largely the brainchild of guitarist/lyricist Luca Turilli. Founded in the early 1990s with the intention of blending the breakneck tempos and melodic harmonies of power metal with a grandiose classical music sensibility and a lyrical focus firmly rooted in a Dungeons & Dragons fantasy aesthetic, Rhapsody of Fire has since become one of the foremost European progressive metal bands in the world.
