Originally based on the book The Hunchback Of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo, Der Glöckner von Notre Dame is a musical which premiered in Berlin in 1999. The musical was initially only in English and was first performed in German after being translated by Michael Kunze. The plot revolves around Quasimodo, a deformed hunchback who encounters a series of troubled circumstances which lead him to meet Esmerelda, a young gypsy dancer. Excitement ensues as all men fight for Esmerelda's love which results in causing complete chaos.
