Kay Tse's musical journey began at the University of Hong Kong when she covered Stephanie Sun's song "Believe." One of the judges - a music producer - was so impressed by her delivery, that he signed her to his music label Ban Ban Music. Her single "Gloomy Festival," from her debut album Kay One, was positively received by critics and found a spot within the top ten on almost all major charts. She soon became a celebrated figure in the pop culture and music scene of Hong Kong. She was nicknamed 'grass-roots diva' and 'goddess' by the media. 2008 proved to be the landmark year in her career. Her singles "17 Degrees" and "Wedding Invitation Street" were commercial successes and the latter won many year-end awards, becoming her breakthrough song. Her subsequent album Binary received commercial and critical acclaim. "Song of the Year," " Lone Village," "Hillwood Road," "The Egg and the Lamb" and "Rashomon" are some of the other hits in her repertoire.
