In 2003 the British alternative rock band Bloc Party caught a lucky break after it gave its demo to BBC radio DJ Steve Lamacq and Franz Ferdinand lead singer Alex Kapranos. The recording was looked upon favorably and shortly after the band handed the EP off, it managed to secure somewhat of a major record deal. The band's music incorporates elements of dance music as well as tonal shifting electric guitar arrangements to create a distinctive style of alternative rock.
