FC Basel is one of the most successful Swiss football clubs in the nation. Founded in 1893, the team has won several Swiss Super League Championships, starting with the 1953 season. Despite a fall from grace during the 1990s, the team was back on top during the 2000s, winning five of ten championships throughout the decade and continuing into the 2010s with a clean sweep throughout 2015. FC Basel plays its games at St. Jakob-Park in Basel and has a fierce rivalry with the city of Zurich, who has two teams, FC Zurich and Grasshopper Club Zurich.
