About
Inspector, a ska band hailing from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, was established in 1995, seamlessly integrating Jamaican rhythms with elements of Mexican pop, rock-n-roll nostalgia, and romantic themes. Renowned for their eclectic mix of ska, reggae, jazz, and rockabilly, they became a significant part of the Avanzada Regia movement. Their independent debut album, Blanco y Negro, released in 1998, garnered considerable attention in Mexico, paving the way for national acclaim. In 2001, they signed with Universal Music, and their album Alma en Fuego achieved platinum status, featuring popular tracks such as "Amnesia" and "Amargo Adiós." The band's distinctive sound has evolved through subsequent albums, including Unidad, Cerveza y Ska (2004) and Amar o Morir (2006), during which they incorporated influences from punk, soul, and funk. Their later release, Inspector (2009), included renditions of "Bésame Mucho" and Madness’ "Our House." Continuing to innovate, they launched Serpientes Y Escaleras in 2023. With their romantic lyrics and vibrant rhythms, Inspector continues to be a leading figure in the Mexican ska music scene.
