Seguridad Social is a prominent Spanish rock band that was established in 1982 in Benetússer, Valencia, by vocalist José Manuel Casany and guitarist Santiago Serrano. Originally formed as a punk rock ensemble, the band diversified its musical style over time, integrating various genres such as ska, Latin, and flamenco, which became defining characteristics of their sound. Their initial albums, including Solo para locos (1985) and Vino, tabaco y caramelos (1988), were instrumental in solidifying their presence in the Spanish rock landscape. Throughout the 1990s, the band experienced notable changes in its lineup, welcoming members like Javi Vela and Alex Olías. Nevertheless, they maintained their momentum by releasing successful albums such as Furia Latina (1993) and Un beso y una flor (1995). Among their most celebrated tracks are “Chiquilla” and “Quiero tener tu presencia.” Casany continues to be the pivotal figure in the band, steering Seguridad Social through years of musical transformation and sustained acclaim in Spain.
