Currents is a metalcore band originating from Newtown, Connecticut, established in 2011 by former drummer Jeff Brown. Despite experiencing several changes in their lineup, the current members consist of Brian Wille (vocals), Chris Wiseman (lead guitar), Ryan Castaldi (rhythm guitar), Matt Young (drums), and Christian Pulgarin (bass and backing vocals). The band made their debut with the EP titled Victimized in 2013, followed by the release of Life // Lost in 2015. In 2017, they signed with SharpTone Records and launched their first full-length album, The Place I Feel Safest, within the same year. Their second album, The Way It Ends, released in 2020, garnered significant critical acclaim, establishing their presence in the metalcore genre. In 2023, Currents released their third album, The Death We Seek, which includes notable singles such as "Vengeance" and "Remember Me." The band is recognized for their powerful fusion of metalcore and djent, characterized by heavy riffs, breakdowns, and a dynamic interplay of melodic and aggressive vocal styles.
