Nilüfer Yanya​, a true-blue Londoner, had little to none exposure to pop music while growing up. However, the music of legends like Amy Winehouse and Nina Simone pushed her to explore the different genres. A classical pianist since a young age, Yanya took up the guitar to further enable her interest in songwriting. Such was her desire to become a musician and re-introduce the world to the dwindling guitar-driven music that even rejection from a music degree couldn't deter her. A slow yet steady trickle of independently released singles enabled her to bag a spot at local events. Her single "Baby Luv" proved to be her breakthrough and she moved from performing at small-scale gigs to singing at popular radio shows. From then on she saw a steady rise in her popularity - she had the opportunity to open for artists like Mitski and even headlined several shows. She and sister started a creative arts project - Artists in Transit - which aims to bridge the gap between the locals and the refugees in Greece.
