Haley Heynderickx, an American singer-songwriter hailing from Portland, Oregon, was born on May 28, 1993, and has Filipino-American heritage. Growing up in Forest Grove, Oregon, she cultivated her musical skills through church singing. After completing her studies at Portland State University, she debuted with the EP titled Fish Eyes in 2016. Her first full-length album, I Need to Start a Garden, was released in 2018 and garnered significant acclaim for its reflective lyrics and complex fingerstyle guitar techniques, drawing parallels to the works of Leo Kottke and John Fahey. The album received a 7.3 rating from Pitchfork, and NPR commended its enchanting qualities. Heynderickx has been celebrated for her distinctive fusion of folk music and lightheartedness, earning recognition as one of Stereogum’s "Artists to Watch" in 2018. Her forthcoming album, Seed of a Seed, is scheduled for release in November 2024, signifying her ongoing evolution as an artist.
