As with many Portuguese sports clubs, G.D. Estoril-Praia includes the sport of Futsal (indoor football) and basketball, however football is always the most prominent. The team is based in the marvelous seaside town of Estoril, right outside of Lisbon and it plays home games in the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota, which holds approximately 8,000 raging Canarinhos (Canaries). The club was established in 1939 and it entered the Primeira Liga in 1944 for the first time, however since then, GD Estoril-Praia has bounced back-and-forth between Portugal’s "Top Flight" teams and the lower divisions.
