Formed in 2005 as the Guildford Heat, the team has undergone several name changes in the past. The team was established by fans of the then defunct team Thames Valley Tigers. The British basketball club began its career with a bang by winning a series of matches from its second day in the league itself. The club won the BBL Cup as well as the BBL Championship in the 2006-07 season. It won the BBL Play-Off, the BBL Trophy and the BBL Cup in the next season. It has gone on to win several other accolades in the history of its existence. The Surrey Scorchers competes in the British Basketball League and plays its home matches at the Surrey Sports Park.
