About
GKS Katowice is a football club that competes in the II Liga - the third level of professional football in Poland. Founded in 1964, it is also known as “GieKSa” and plays its home games at the Stadion GKS Katowice. It has won several honors including multiple Polish Cup and Polish Supercup titles and has also featured in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, UEFA Cup and the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. However the prestigious Ekstraklasa is a key piece of silverware that is still missing in its trophy cabinet. Notable alumni include Piotr Świerczewski, Paweł Brożek and Jan Furtok.
