About
Club Universitario de Deportes was formed in 1924 as Federación Universitaria by the students and teachers of the National University of San Marcos. The club took on its current name in 1931. The football club began playing in the amateur leagues of Peru but soon found their way into the Peruvian top league, Liga 1. The team first won its top league title in 1928. The club plays its home matches at Estadio Monumental "U".
