About
FBC Melgar is one of the oldest football clubs in Peru. It was founded in 1915 in Arequipa. The club has been a consistent competitor in Liga 1 since 1971 and has won the league title multiple times. Winning the Copa Perú is also one of its many achievements. It is also popular for its fierce rivalry with Sportivo Huracán, Cienciano, Piérola and Aurora. It uses the Estadio Monumental Virgen de Chapi in Arequipa as its home ground.
