Ternana Calcio

The Terni Football Club and Unione Sportiva Ternana merged to form Ternana Calcio in 1925. The Italian soccer club was promoted to the second-highest league within two years of its formation. The team ran into financial difficulties soon after and had to be shut down and reformed. The club played in the Serie B and Serie C for several years until it was promoted to the top league after the 1972 season. But the financial troubles weren't over yet. After having to begin from the bottom several times, the team has consistently made its way to the upper rungs of Italian professional football. The team competes in Serie C and plays its home games at the Stadio Libero Liberati.
