Midnight Oil is an Australian alternative rock band that was formed in 1972. The group released music and toured frequently but didn't achieve fam until 1987 when it released its smash single, "Beds Are Burning," a song that highlighted the plights of many indigenous Australians. Though the group has since never attained the level of success it did during the late-1980s, Midnight Oil still tours and is regarded as a Australian legacy act.
