About
Sechs Kies, a groundbreaking boy band from South Korea, made their debut on April 15, 1997, as a six-member ensemble featuring Eun Ji-won, Lee Jai-jin, Kim Jae-duck, Jang Su-won, Kang Sung-hoon, and Ko Ji-yong. They played an instrumental role in the development of the early K-pop industry and its associated fan culture. Although they achieved significant success, Sechs Kies disbanded on May 20, 2000. After a 16-year break, they made a comeback in 2016 on the variety program Infinite Challenge, with five members signing contracts with YG Entertainment. Ko Ji-yong chose not to return, and Kang Sung-hoon departed from the group in 2019. Their post-reunion successes, including the song "Three Words" (2016) and the album Another Light (2017), solidified their lasting impact. Renowned for their vibrant stage performances and dedicated fanbase, Sechs Kies remained with YG until 2024, when they once again became inactive. Despite changes in their lineup and periods of dormancy, Sechs Kies is regarded as a legendary entity in the annals of K-pop history.
