Based in Dresden, Germany, Dresden Monarchs is an American football team that regularly competes in the German Football League (GFL). Founded in 1992, the club plays its home fixtures at the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion as well as the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion. The team first achieved promotion to the GFL in 2002 and since then have never been relegated to the lower divisions. In the GFL, the club has made it to the playoffs several times but have never won the German Bowl. The closest they have come to winning the German Bowl was in the 2013 edition when they were beaten by the New Yorker Lions in the finals.
