About
Formed in 1983, Assindia Cardinals is an American football team that is based in the city of Essen, Germany. It competes in the German Football League 2 (GFL2) and is a member of its North Division. Although it has spent most of its time going back and forth between the different tiers of the league system, it has tasted success twice when it won the North Division title of the GFL2 once in 2000 and the other in 2008. The team can be seen playing its home games at the Sportpark am Hallo.
