About
Hobson's Choice is a play by Harold Brighouse that derives its story from the famous maxim Hobson's choice--meaning no real choice at all. Set in England in 1880, Hobson's Choice centers around a family and its father who is eager to marry off his three daughters. Premiering at the Apollo Theatre in 1916 the play has since received numerous revivals around the world, in addition to being made into a heavily laded film directed by David Lean and starring Charles Laughton.
