One of the more recent teams to enter the Eredivisie, F.C. Utrecht was formed in 1970 when three other clubs folded. As F.C. Utrecht, the club has never won in the top-tier, however it did win the KNVB Cup three times and the Johan Cruijff Schaal once. The kit colors are red-and-white for home games while the club dons all black on the road. Utrecht takes the pitch at the 24,000 seat Stadion Galgenwaard and its main rival is AZ Alkmaar.
