SBV Excelsior

One of the oldest teams in Dutch football, S.B.V Excelsior was established in 1902 and though it is not as popular as powerhouse neighbor Feyenoord, it still garners a tremendous amount of fans in Rotterdam. Excelsior is one of the founding members of Dutch professional football and in fact, the club was the impetus behind the creation of the Eredivisie. For the majority of its existence, the club has not had much success in the top-flight, however it won the Eerste Divisie (First Division) three times. SBV Excelsior plays its games at the tiny Stadion Woudestein which barely holds more than 3,000 spectators.
