Matthew Jonathan Gordon Maltese, born on October 6, 1997, is a British-Canadian singer-songwriter celebrated for his unique fusion of indie pop, indie rock, and chamber pop. He was raised in Reading and began composing music at the age of 14. His career gained momentum after relocating to Camden, London. Maltese first captured public attention with his debut single, "Even If It's a Lie," released in 2015, and subsequently achieved viral success with "As the World Caves In." He has produced four studio albums to date: Bad Contestant (2018), Krystal (2019), Good Morning It’s Now Tomorrow (2021), and Driving Just to Drive (2023). His work frequently delves into themes of melancholy, infused with humor and emotional depth. The 2021 resurgence of "As the World Caves In" on TikTok significantly expanded his audience. Renowned for his reflective lyrics and cinematic soundscapes, Maltese remains a prominent figure in the indie music landscape, headlining tours throughout the UK, Europe, and the Americas.
